Buffalo Restaurant Owners Collaborate On New Downtown Restaurant

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) – The owners of Buffalo Marble + Rye, Butter Block and Remedy House restaurants are collaborating on a new place to eat. It all started last summer with a brunch project between restaurants.

“Marble + Rye ran the bar program, Butter Block took care of the food, Remedy House provided the coffee, and I think it was just something we all looked forward to every week,” said Christian Willmott, co-owner of Marble + Rye. “We like to work together, we worked well together and made a great team.”

Now this team is starting something more permanent. The new restaurant, Flint, will open at 50 Fountain Plaza, just behind the Hyatt hotel.

“There will be coffee, there will be pastries, there will be bread,” Willmott said. There will obviously be dining options like we have in all of our current locations, but it will be a consistent brand. So Flint himself will be his own entity. “

Willmott said he has noticed a difference in downtown Buffalo since Marble + Rye opened almost four years ago. He said that was definitely where he wanted to be.

“We just saw a real change, night and day, from then until now,” he said. “There is a lot more foot traffic, there are just more people who work and live downtown, so when we are looking at new concepts and ideas, the only place we really wanted to be at this point is the city. . “

The location will not only have food.

“The Flint space that we really hope to promote as an after-hours event space, so weddings, showers, birthdays, it’s a perfect place,” said Willmott. “It’s nice.”

Willmott said there is no opening date yet, but Flint is expected to open by the end of 2019.
